I am glad I read the editorial in the Irish Times, Saturday 26th July 2008 as it mentioned that:
“one of the more enlightened public investments of recent times has involved the digitisation by the Library Council of Ireland, of Griffith’s Valuation, a detailed guide to property ownership and lanholdings in mid-19th century Ireland…..”
It is FREE and fully searchable!
You will find Griffith’s Valuation at:
Griffith’s Valuation
The Irish Times editorial goes on to say:
“As a long-term investment in the tourist industry it makes sense. It represents an important gesture of solidarity with the Irish diaspora…..”
I am glad to see the Irish Times supports the provision of free, online genealogical resources such as Griffith’s Valuation.
Thanks for the info. Thanks to your announcement, I’ve shared it on my blog at Now free to researchers: Griffith’s Valuation online .
Keep up the good work on the Cork Genealogist. You have a great blog which I enjoy reading.
